CoursEval is UBC's online survey application for setting up and receiving confidential student evaluations of UBC courses and instructors. Once evaluations are complete, instructors can use the system to view their results online.

Getting started How do I get started?

Faculty and staff at UBC can get started with CoursEval by using Canvas. You can make CoursEval accessible through the side bar, or you can link directly to it in a module.

Add CoursEval to the side bar:

  • Log in to your Canvas course.
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select the Navigation tab
  • Scroll down until you find CoursEval.
  • Click the gear, and select Enable.

Add CoursEval to a module:

  • Log in to your Canvas course.
  • Go to Modules.
  • Press the Add item button on a module.
  • Select External Tool from the drop-down menu.
  • Select CoursEval and then add item.


Once you've created a link to CoursEval, your students can access your content by clicking the link you have provided.

Available support What support is available?

Contact courseval.support@ubc.ca with questions. Support is provided by CTLT and Faculty-based staff. Additionally, CTLT hosts a Community of Practice (CoP) for CoursEval. The CoP meets once per term to discuss issues, provide input into process changes, and view any new software releases. Check the events calendar for upcoming dates.
