Specialized Help Sessions

Specialized help sessions specific to particular learning technologies are scheduled regularly during the academic year. These are the currently available offerings.


WordPress and Wiki Clinics

These drop-in clinics are for users of UBC Blogs or CMS websites and offer one-on-one help by WordPress/Wiki experts to support your teaching and learning goals. Please come prepared with a list of questions specific to your site, and specialists at the clinic will assist you in addressing and resolving your questions.

When and where

Clinics generally take place every Thursday between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the second-floor CTLT offices in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (1961 East Mall).

DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Media Support Sessions

DIY Media Support Sessions are for anyone creating media for a course who needs help resolving issues. The UBC Studios team makes time every month to provide personalized, expert assistance to answer how-to questions or tackle technical problems.

When and where

Sessions occur on the last Wednesday of every month at 10 a.m. and take place in the UBC Studios space located at 110 - 2329 West Mall (at Agronomy), in the University Services Building.


edX Studio Sessions

In each of these sessions, participants will learn about a tool or functionality of the edX Edge platform and then practice hands-on work with guided support. The sessions are geared towards those in the UBC Community using edX in online or blended learning. Attendees will leave the studio session with helpful resources, best practices, and practical suggestions for implementing this platform.

When and where

Sessions are planned regularly throughout the academic year and are generally held in the second-floor CTLT offices in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (1961 East Mall).

DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Media Learning Community Meetings

The DIY Media Learning Community is a group of people with an interest in DIY media development and supporting Faculty who are engaged in these projects. The group meets to share ideas, challenges, and resources, and includes media specialists, learning designers, students, instructional support staff, and faculty who come to share their projects in progress. The groups also co-develops online resources for the community on its website. Join us to learn from each other!

When and where

Meetings occur twice per term (except the summer) and are generally held in the second-floor CTLT offices in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (1961 East Mall).
