Getting Started with Creating, Editing, and Sharing Video Using Kaltura


Workshop
Synchronous OnlineKaltura is a media platform where you and your students can create, store, and share multimedia content in Canvas. Join us for this one-hour introduction to Kaltura, where we will also delve into the features available in the Kaltura cloud. Whether you want to create short videos to introduce yourself to your students, create lecture videos for your course, or record and share your synchronous lecture session, this workshop will get you started using Kaltura and explore some of its key functionality. You can also ask questions and get answers about the migration of videos into the Kaltura cloud.

WordPress and Wiki Clinics

Synchronous OnlineAn alternative way of sharing online course content at UBC is to set up a website on UBC Blogs (which uses WordPress) or use the UBC Wiki. Get one-on-one support with WordPress and Wiki for teaching, learning, or administrative purposes on Thursdays. Specialists at the clinic will be happy to answer all your questions during the scheduled time.

Synchronous OnlineCanvas is UBC’s primary all-in-one platform for delivering online course content. This workshop is geared towards those who have little experience teaching with Canvas. We will explore how to design, deliver, and manage your Canvas courses—and make your teaching more efficient.

Qualtrics Studio

Qualtrics is UBC’s primary tool for creating surveys and collecting and analyzing survey data. In Qualtrics, you can build custom surveys that are tailored to your pedagogical needs. Join us for the monthly Qualtrics studio virtual workshop and drop-in session, geared towards UBC faculty and staff using Qualtrics as a teaching or research tool.

Course Design Intensive

Workshop
Synchronous OnlineIn the Course Design Intensive, participants work individually and collaboratively to design or re-design a course they are (or will be) teaching. Held over three days during one week, the workshop provides a solid framework for course design that is not specific to a particular delivery method (such as remote, hybrid, or face-to-face delivery).

Instructional Skills Workshop for Faculty

Synchronous In Person & OnlineThe Instructional Skills Workshop for Faculty is designed to enhance the teaching effectiveness of both new and experienced educators. You will have a chance to try new teaching approaches and to sharpen existing skills by designing and conducting three “mini-lessons” and receiving feedback from your peers.

Asynchronous OnlineThis self-paced, asynchronous course is designed for UBC instructors who are new to teaching online courses. Over 8-10 hours, the course walks participants through recommended, evidence-based practices to use when preparing for and teaching online. Videos, readings, activities, and just-in-time checklists help participants apply these practices to their specific contexts.
